The Degenerate's Digest v.4

What did I tell you? Someone who talks as much trash as I do on these weekly segments REALLY needs to be able to back it up. After Week 2’s disappointing performance, I told you that it takes only “the biggest winner” to come back from that. I wouldn’t be shocked if none of you jabroni’s actually followed my advice (if you did, well done you degenerate – you’re who I’m doing these for). But guess what. I won. I raked in the biggest win so far this season with a 5-0 slate. If you just listened to my advice, you may not be reading this from your desk today. Instead, you could have been reading this from an island in Tahiti. The only person to blame is yourself.

Onto Week 4 College Football…

NC State vs. (12) Florida State: NC State +12.5

Florida State hasn’t played a game of football in 21 days. Sure, they are at home in front of the rowdy Seminole Army. Sure, it’s against NC State. But 21 days!? Oh, and not to mention they have a new starting quarterback in the pocket this week – James Blackman. The cobwebs will be there people. NC State has had a rock of a run defense thus far, and they are going to force Blackman to either look like a bust or be the new talk of the town in Tallahassee. I think Florida State will ultimately pull this off, mainly because NC State’s offense can’t close. But I will hold it at 12.5 for the Wolfpack.

Final Score: Florida State 30, NC State 18

(17) Mississippi State vs. (11) Georgia: Mississippi State OUTRIGHT

I’m high on Mississippi State, especially after they hung brain on Coach O and the rest of the LSU Tigers last week. And Georgia is clearly overrated. Beating their only formidable opponent, Notre Dame, by 1 point. Their freshman quarterback, Jake Fromm, will finally get a taste of an SEC defense. And Georgia’s defense may be decent, but Mississippi States front line is better. Nick Fitzgerald will have all the time in the world to control this game and win the battle of the bulldogs – ring those cowbells.

Final Score: Mississippi State 28, Georgia 24

(20) Florida vs. Kentucky: Under 44

Little fun fact, Kentucky hasn’t beaten Florida in over 30 years. I would like to see that change today, but I’m not too confident. What I am confident in, is that both of these offenses are abysmal, and both of these defenses are decent. This will be a defensive shootout, and as much as I would like to go full on streak-breaker, I’m going to play it somewhat-safe. Possession time will be a key factor in this matchup in Lexington. It’s not going to be a pretty one, take the under.

Final Score: Florida 21, Kentucky 17

(4) Penn State vs. Iowa: First Half Iowa +7.5

Anyone remember this?

Regardless of a 6-4 score in 2004, I am thoroughly excited for this game. Now, Iowa hasn’t beaten the best or the brightest yet this season. But they are an undefeated Big 10 team who put up 44 points in a thriller against Iowa State. Same goes for the Nittany Lions. We all know they are better than the Hawkeyes, but they haven’t really beaten anybody of note yet. The game plan in Iowa City tonight will be to keep Penn State’s offense off the field. And the Hawkeyes will succeed in this for the first half. I think they can even go into the locker room with the lead, thus my pick on the first half points. Penn State will ultimately figure out how to breakdown the Hawkeyes defense, but this is set to be an exciting Big 10 matchup.

Final Score: Penn State 28 Iowa 23

(7) Washington vs. Colorado: Washington -11.5

Who does Vegas think they are? Do they really expect me to be wary of this Pac 12 Championship rematch? The Huskies haven’t really got going yet, especially on the ground game. But the altitude and the somewhat-proven Colorado D-line are not going to be enough to slow down this offense all night. This could seem like a fight in the first half, but this has a second half blow away written all over it. Lay 11.5 on this and laugh in Vegas' face tomorrow morning when you are treating yourself to bottomless mimosas and crepes with your winnings.

Final Score: Washington 35, Colorado 17
