3 for 2 last week? A win’s a win. You bet your bottom dollar I was telling everyone how STUPID Vegas was for giving me such opportunities. Granted, this was on Sunday morning at the Eagles tailgate while I was sipping a couple Millar Lités putting in my NFL picks – which everyone lost last week. But, Saturdays are for the boys – and my wallet. If you still haven’t taken advantage of the Digest to it's fullest (shout out all the degenerates out there), I think it’s time you start. We’re coming upon week five of the college football season. Can you believe that!? One more week and we’ll be halfway through the regular season. And to think it’s still #BootyShortSZN…
Northwestern vs. (10) Wisconsin: Wisconsin -14.5
Finally, Wisconsin has its first Big Ten matchup. And against a team that lost to Duke? Give me a break. Clayton Thorson is a great QB for the Wildcats, and he went OFF against Nevada and Bowling Green. But this is a Badger’s squad who is trying to prove that they are not to be messed with, especially in their division. Austin Ramesh and Jonathan Taylor will come out stomping. And once the Wildcats figure out how to stop them, Alex Hornibrook will be there to wipe up them up through the air. This has massacre potential written all over it. I already feel bad for Northwestern fans making the useless trip to Camp Randall.
Final Score: Wisconsin 42, Northwestern 17
(7) Georgia vs. Tennessee: Tennessee +7.5
This is going to be a TEST for the Bulldogs. I bet against them last week, and I may regret doing so for the second straight week. But I am still not convinced this squad is a top ten team. Heading into Neyland Stadium, Nick Chubb and Christian Payne are going to do what they do best and break down this defense early. But if Quinten Dormady and the rest of the Vols offense can just control the field position battle and time of possession, they may have a shot at taking this game OUTRIGHT. Georgia’s defense is too good for me to take that straight-up potential, so I’ll let Vegas hand me a touchdown.
Final Score: Georgia 24, Tennessee 17
Florida State vs. Wake Forest: Florida State -9.5
Ugh, this game. Such a Vegas ad. This is the first time Florida State has been out of the Top 25 since 2011, and winless in late September. The Demon Deacons? 4-0! Vegas is pumping out ads for this matchup to college freshman who are looking to get a $100 bonus from Bovada when you sign up using the promo code ‘Digest’. The Seminole defense is going to SWARM Wake Forest into submission. And with a game under James Blackman’s belt, he’s going to get comfortable after the 2nd quarter. Florida State will walk into October with their first win, you heard it here first.
Final Score: Florida State 32, Wake Forest 14
(24) Mississippi State vs. (13) Auburn: Auburn -9.5
I trusted you Miss State. Why did you have to break my heart in the Battle of the Bulldogs? Another road game here for you in Jordan-Hare Stadium? Sorry, but this is knocking you out of the Top 25. Auburn’s run defense is going to lock this one up and throw away the key. I almost want to throw down cash on a prop bet saying the Bulldog’s come out of this game with negative total rushing yards. All in all, Jarrett Stidham will take care of the Tiger’s offensive attack against a decent defense to come out on top for the home crowd. Don’t play with my emotions Mississippi State, this is what happens. War Eagle!
Final Score: Auburn 28, Mississippi State 15
(2) Clemson vs. (12) Virginia Tech: Clemson -7
When the HELL did Virginia Tech become the 12th ranked team in the nation? Seriously, they’ve only beaten West Virginia, and that was in week one. I cannot stress how overrated I think they are. I will say, when I get this much confidence behind a take, it usually works out for me. Because I’m a winner, and winners win. This game will be a close one…for five minutes (see Louisville vs. Clemson two weeks ago). Freshman quarterback Josh Jackson has been great, but the Hokies are in over their heads here. Lookout for the Tiger’s defense to win this game for Kelly Bryant with the best overall field position win this season.
Final Score: Clemson 35, Virginia Tech 14
Can't wait for another day of laughs in front of the nerd-o clowns over at WestGate...
