The Degenerate's Digest v.6

As fellow Stoop Kid Matty Ice and I like to say, we’re not excuse guys. We just don’t make excuses.

Coming into the halfway mark on the CFB regular season, the digest has gone off little information to win you money. The first weeks of college football can be impossible for some people to profit with, because it’s just so volatile. And yet, even with the crazy upsets, bounce backs, and back door covers– I have kept true to my promise to all of you degenerate’s out there. 14-11 in the first five weeks? I’m beating Vegas people. They all sit around their cubical running the dew point numbers at kickoff times to determine the probability of fumbles, missed snaps, etc. I sit behind my computer for 15 minutes once a week with a crisp, cold, Millar Lité in hand and read between the lines. Sorry Vegas, your countless hours of calculating the Pythagorean Theorem won’t work on The Stoop. And it’s only going to get better from here.

Allow me to reintroduce myself, Week 6 College Football…

(13) Miami vs. Florida State: Miami -3

James Blackman is still new to the college football scene. And one thing that has stuck out the past two weeks for him, is his tendency to panic when pressured. Miami’s defensive front is second in the nation in tackles for loss and tenth in sacks. They are going to bring THE HOUSE. Miami has also been a very quiet team the first half of the season. And this is the perfect game to get people to notice. If this offense can convert the majority of their third downs and tire out the Seminole defense, they will potentially be able to win this game by double digits.

Final Score: Miami 28, Florida State 21

(23) West Virginia vs. (8) TCU: Under 67.5

You may be asking yourself, ‘wait – does that say under!?’. Yes, my fellow degenerate, it does. These may in fact be two of the best offenses in the nation. And Kenny Hill vs. Will Grier on College Football Gameday? I may be a nut job to take this – but I think most geniuses are a little crazy. This will come down to be a battle of time possession. Unless needed to get back on the scoreboard, you won’t see long breakout plays forced any time after the first quarter. It will be a shootout, but I think on a national stage the pressure these defenses will be able to hold is going to be more than either of these teams (mainly West Virginia) have faced previously this season. I like Will Grier, but the Horned Frog’s will finally be recognized on a national level after this tight victory.

Final Score: TCU 38, West Virginia 27

Colorado State vs. Utah State: Utah State +8.5

Some nerds think coming off bye weeks is a good thing for football teams. In my opinion, those nerds are soft. Colorado State hasn’t played a game of football in two weeks. Whereas Utah State has been rolling lately, especially in the takeaways department (number 1 in the country). The Rams are one of the best teams in the nation to convert third downs. And Nick Steven’s and the offensive line are a match made in heaven. But I am still a firm believer in consistency, and when you haven’t played competitively in 14 days, this will be a tough victory to obtain on the road. The Rams will ultimately take this from the Aggies, but it’s not going to be pretty.

Final Score: Colorado State 32, Utah State 26

Michigan State vs. (7) Michigan: Michigan -10

Ann Arbor is going to be electric tonight. This rivalry is always a classic. Michigan State does have a solid run defense – but the Wolverine’s defense is just so much better. John O’Korn has been proving all of the old Houston Hater’s wrong since the injury to Wilton Speight, showing that he is still primed to lead an offense. He has essentially been error free so far, which makes you think mistakes are coming. But the rivalry and home crowd vibes may detract the Spartan’s defense from forcing those mistakes this weekend. And even if there are problems, the Wolverines defense will make up for them tenfold. Sorry Spartans fans, but this year you just don’t stand a chance. John Harbaugh will enjoy another glass of milk with his steak after this victory.

Final Score: Michigan 28, Michigan State 13

California vs. (6) Washington: Over 52

No one has yet to come within three touchdowns of beating Washington this season. And yet, when you think of teams really making a name for themselves, the Huskies seem to still get left out of the conversation. Now, they haven’t really beaten anybody to give a solid nod too just yet, and Cal isn’t anything special either. But, the offense is producing at tremendous levels, and will continue to do so tonight and for the rest of the season. Jake Browning is going to keep rolling, and if the Bears offensive line can give Ross Bowers some time tonight, he may just be able to chip away a bit more than anyone else has been able to chew off the Huskies backfield. Loving a high scoring game late night in Seattle.

Final Score: Washington 42, California 17

6 more weeks of cash, suck it Vegas...
