N. Tropeano (1-1; 3.75) v J. Verlander (3-0; 1.10)
Pick: Houston Astros
Ohtani-fani-fo-fani, fee-fie-fo-fani, Ohtani! My god, can you imagine the electricity on the Stoop if the #BPS was graced with a Shohei Ohtani appearance on the mound?! It’d be like a thunder storm in the middle of August; sparks of lighting illuminating the night sky, thunder crackling in the distance. We’d generate enough power to drive PECO out of business… Unfortunately we won’t have that luxury today as Mr. Do It All was used in his weekly pitching outing last night and will most likely be given the day off in the field today. This game won’t be anything short of exciting however, as two of the MLB’s hottest square off on baseball’s greatest day. Houston offices will run dry this afternoon as employee’s bag cube life for an opportunity to see stars, Mike Trout, Jose Altuve, Carlos Correa, and even old man Pujols light up Minute Maid Park. I expect this one to be a blood bath, but ultimately Houston comes out on top. You’ll never catch a man with as much baseball acumen as me picking against the great Justin Verlander. 3-0 with a 1.10 ERA and 39 K’s through 5? Get outta town lol. Guy’s got the magic touch. Houston avoids the sweep.
F. Hernandez (2-2; 5.06) v J. Shields (1-2; 6.17)
Pick: Chicago White Sox
Am I the new face of White Sox nation? Early reports point Yes. To this day, I am still bombarded by fans in the street because of my HEROIC choice picking the White Sox to upset the Rays Week 1 of the #BPS. I have mothers, fathers, uncles, grandmas, and cousins from all across the world coming up to me and thanking me for my great judgement, they say, “Matt, you sent my kid to college, thank you”. “Matt, you paid off my student loans, bless you”. “Matt, that pick got me out of 100’s of thousands of dollars in credit card debt, muchas gracias”. People…no need to thank, these picks are for you. AND IM DOING IT AGAIN! White Sox baby! Again! Today! 2:10 EST! Ride ‘em while they’re hot! I don’t care if they gave up a billion runs to Houston over the weekend. Wednesdays are Sox days, and they’re gunna bring it again this afternoon. King Felix is a moosh. Jose Abreu and Yoan Moncada are gunna spank this fool adding to their impressive 5 game stretch, each batting above .330 with a combined 4 HR’s and 5 RBI. Keep Chicago in the dark haters, it only fuels this lucky horseshoe.
T. Ross (2-1; 2.81) v J. Gray (1-4; 7.09)
Pick: Colorado Rockies
I’ll be honest; this is a tough one… Most people probably expect me to shy away… Walk past this game like a scorned lover in high school, pretending they don’t see their ex across the hall in an attempt to avoid an awkward encounter…but no…not this guy. Not this Stooper. This one stays strong; stands tall in the face of adversity. I don’t care that these Rockies have tormented me…embarrassed me in front of the world, losing #BPS game after #BPS game no matter how much I laud their roster… I won’t back down. They’re much too good, much too powerful to be laid by the wayside. No…this is the time to advocate Colorado more than ever before! THIS IS A REVENGE GAME! Just a short two weeks ago, Padres pitcher Luis Perdomo plunked Rockies All-Star, Nolan Arenado with a heater right to the back. Chaos ensued as the benches cleared and Wrestle Mania began between both squads at midfield… The Rockies remember that. Nolan Arenado remembers that, and today they seek their revenge. Each team has laid a spanking to one another through the first two of this series, Padres winning 13-5 on Monday and Colorado winning 8 – zip last night… The blood is now boiling…the volcano is about to erupt and I DO NOT anticipate the Rockies to come out victims this time. Like the great George W. Bush once said, “There's an old saying in Tennessee — I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again.” Rockies won’t get fooled again. That’s just FACTS.
M. Scherzer (4-1; 1.36) v J. Samardzija (1-0; 0.00)
Pick: Washington Nationals
Don’t be fooled by the records of each team in today’s #BPS finale. At first glance, the matchup might scream dog slop, but a closer look reveals a true marvel in our final course; and his name is Robert Paulson Max Scherzer. Mad Max has picked up right where his CY Young season left off last year standing 2nd in the NL in strikeouts and 3rd in ERA. Watching Scherzer pitch is like a Beethoven symphony, beauty from start to finish. The righty is dominating all phases of the game right now and I have to reason to believe he won’t continue to do so today. Just give him a run Nationals. That’s all he needs.
