Wednesday, May 2nd Business Person Special

D. Duffy (0-3; 5.40) v D. Pomeranz (0-1; 7.27)

Pick: Boston Red Sox

In six starts against the Red Sox, Dan Duffy is 0-4 with a mountainous 6.75 ERA… He can’t find the zone, batters smack him like a Raggedy Anne doll, and he’s lucky if he can even make it through 4. Ya can’t trust a man who gets night sweats from the Green Monster. Even with Pom-Pom balls on the mound on the other side I have the Sawx all the way in this one. Boston wins the afternoon rubber match.

M. Stroman (0-3; 8.88) v F. Romero (--; --)

Pick: Blue Jays

In matchup numero dos on this afternoon’s mega slate we have Stroman bread vs Data cannot be found…an absolute SNOOZER on baseball’s greatest day, but I find gold in even the murkiest of mud puddles. Marcus Stroman became an American legend last summer after leading the United States to their first ever World Baseball Classic championship. I ain’t afraid of no triple 8’s! (his ERA for those of you still sleeping by noon). This is an American hero! Plus the Twinkies are garbage…1 win in their last 10. Blue Jays fly away with this one.

M. Moore (1-3; 5.33) v C. Kluber (4-1; 2.18)

Pick: Cleveland Indians

Wow what a death sentence… Texas wakes up early. Looks at their calendar. Excited for their first #BPS of the season, and what do they see? Reigning CY Young winner Cory Kluber slated to take the mound for the Indians. Capital Punishment, that’s what you Texans stand for right? Well here ya have it. Cleveland sends the Rangers back to the Lone Star State in body bags as Kluber pitches no-no (yea I just called a no-no).

B. Snell (4-1; 2.52) v M. Fulmer (1-2; 2.76)

Pick: Tampa Bay Rays

This might be the matchup of the day- two young hurlers, at the dawn of their primes, squaring off on the baseballs biggest stage. Although their teams are puppy poo, keep an eye on pitchers Blake Snell and Mike Fulmer come the trade deadline as playoff hungry teams manically try to acquire a final piece to secure their pitching rotation. I love both these guys, but Tampa’s offense is more diverse. Mallex Smith and CJ Cron have been quite the surprise for Ray’s fans this season getting on base and generating runs at a consistent rate. The Tigers however, are still hanging their hats on the accolades of Mr. Miguel Cabrera. That’s just not gunna cut it. Tampa sneaks just enough offense past Fulmer to give Smelly Snelly the win.

L. Giolito (1-3; 7.71) v C. Martinez (2-1; 1.43)

Pick: St. Louis Cardinals

Ahh…our weekly date with the White Sox. They nearly done did it again last week as my miracle shot just barely missed net when Chicago lost to Seattle in the 9th. The Sox and I are becoming quite the partnership as of late, sending children from all across the world to colleges of their choosing because of White Sox W’s. But I can’t go with them here this week. Giolito gives up a touchdown a game and his counterpart, Carlos Martinez throws noting but flames. St. Louis just outplays our #BPS darlings today winning Game 2 of the series.

T. Anderson (1-0; 4.10) v Y. Darvish (0-2; 5.26)

Pick: Chicago Cubs

After a miserable start to the season, Yu Darvish has finally begun to settle in going 6 strong with 8K’s last week against the lethal Brewers. Normally I take this time to gas up how great I think the Rockies are but I’m feeling confident with Yu’s recent developments. Big win for Chi-town this afternoon against a fellow dominant NL foe.

C. Richard (1-3; 5.35) v D. Holland (0-3; 5.76)

Pick: San Francisco Giants

Drop your pencils and grab your kayaks, we’re finishing this #BPS in McCovey Cove! The Padres have dominated this series so far this season, but with the scum this bay has washed up on this mound today I’m going with the hotter team. Giants win their 8th in 11 games.
