Z. Wheeler (2-2; 5.79) v S. Romano (2-3; 4.21)
Pick: Cincinnati Reds
Gotta love the Mets man…they begin the season with the best start in franchise history, going 10-1 in their first 11, get all their fans hopes as high as the sky, then buckle at the knees and crumble a month into the season falling back into the dumpster where they belong. The Mets are pond scum, going 8-17 since that hot start, and today they will be represented by the scummiest of them all, Zack Wheeler. Z-Dub’s been arguably the worst of the Mets’ rotation, surrendering 14 runs over his past 15 innings. Never have I seen lollipops produced at a higher rate than this as Wheel’s looks like a character more fitted for Sugar Rush than Major League Baseball (beware of King Candy!). Sal Romano’s no pitching stud for the Reds, but no way does he produced something worse than this. Reds in a snoozer.
C. Carrasco (4-1; 3.95) v J. Guerra (2-2; 2.33)
Pick: Cleveland Indians
The Brew Crew played SOUND baseball last night as they defeated the reigning CY Young award winner, Corey Kluber, 3-2. The win, which included two moon shots against the ace, inspired confidence in a team who now holds a share of the division lead in the NL Central. Normally a win like that would inspire great confidence in the Guru of Baseball, but the problem is….Milwaukee gets no breaks this afternoon, as one of the more underrated pitchers in baseball is set to take the mound for Cleveland. The crown jewel of the Cliff Lee to Philly trade of 2009, Carlos Carrasco as skyrocketed from top pitching prospect to bona fide ace in the major leagues. Although shadowed by Kluber, Carrasco brings a punch that could be considered ace worthy on many other squads. Look out for that today. CC holds off the Brewers tight offense as Cleveland’s bats exposes Guerra.
F. Liriano (3-21; 2.97) v B. Colon (1-1; 3.29)
Pick: Texas Rangers
No, that’s not your brain playing games, that is indeed the ageless wonder, Bartolo Colon scheduled to take the mound for the Ranges this afternoon; so need I say more? Never bet against Big Sexy. Rangers easy. Probably in a shutout.
T. Williams (4-2; 2.63) v R. Lopez (0-2; 2.43)
Pick: Chicago White Sox
I love these weekly dates with the Sox. Hand-in-hand, defying the odds, knocking down the doors of critics everywhere. Yes I have the Sox this afternoon! South Side put ya hands up!
W. Chen (1-1; 4.82) v J. Quintana (3-2; 4.99)
Pick: Chicago Cubs
No analysis needed here. After dishing All Stars Christian Yelich, Marcel Ozuna, & Giancarlo Stanton in the offseason, the Marlins are officially in tank mode. #TTP. Chicago wipes the floor with Miami this afternoon as guests use this game as an opportunity to sunbathe rather than watch an intriguing baseball game.
J. Barria (2-1; 3.46) v T. Anderson (2-0; 3.78)
Pick: Los Angles Angels
This is my pick of the day. The Angels are one of the league’s best in games outside of their home ball park, 13-4. Look for LA to steal one against one of the best teams in baseball. I love me the Rockies, but Trout takes advantage of this rinky dink ball park. Souvenirs for everybody!
G. Cole (3-1; 1.42) v D. Mengden (2-3; 4.30)
Pick: Houston Astros
Gerrit Cole is on pace to win the CY Young this year as he currently holds the lead for strikeouts in the AL (77) and is second in the majors in ERA (1.42). The guy is untouchable as he showed last Friday by no-hitting the Diamondbacks through 6. This one’s easy. Nothing to talk about for the A’s. Hope ya got sweet plans for after the game. You’re getting smoked here. Astros easy.
YTD: 15-9
