Wednesday, April 17th Business Person Special

April 17, 2019 #BPS – Season Record: 3/6 – 50%

Welcome to the Business Person Special! Where cube monkeys come to play hooky, and degenerates come to win rent. If there’s an MLB game on Wednesday afternoon, I gotcha covered. So come on! Grab a snack, maybe even a cold one, and join me as I aim to predict each and every MLB game this season played on our favorite day – Wednesday Afternoons!

Z. Wheeler (1-1; 7.47) v J. Arrieta (2-1; 2.25)

After a disappointing extra innings loss on Monday, the Philadelphia Phillies came out firing Tuesday night scoring 8 runs on Steven Matz in the 1st before a single out was even recorded. With an offensive outburst like that, it’s only natural baseball fans will be foaming at the mouth to capitalize on the Phillies yet again today….but I advocate caution here. The majority of that offensive outburst came from 2nd year bench player, Scott Kingery who came to the park looking to feast on more than dollar ‘dogs going 3-4 with 5 RBI (a performance that landed him a triple shy of the cycle). This is not the real Scott Kingery, and although BPS’s start most Wednesday’s off with a cold one to kick off the best day of the week, our judgment ain't that hazy. We don’t buy into fool’s gold. The Phillies will more than likely be without All Stars Rhys Hoskins and Jean Segura yet again this afternoon which opens up the middle of their lineup for some exposure. Combine that with a normally reliable Zach Wheeler on the mound (despite his poor ERA to start the season) and the Mets are in position to grab the series. We may be Philadelphia based here at the Stoop, but we’re not homer enough to miss out on a chance at money. Take the Mets.

Pick: New York Mets

M. Wacha (5.28) v C. Burnes (0-1; 10.05)

Christina Yelich…that’s it. That’s all you need to know. We’re not even out of the month of April and Yelich already has 9 ding dongs against the men in red. The Brewers are 5-1 against the Cardinals this season and Yelich has homered in every game. He’s their daddy, and he’s using the real estate he owns in their heads to publicly embarrass them game in and game out. It’s time to prosper on that shaming BPS’ers. Ride the BrewCrew, and who knows? Maybe daddy even brings ya home a new puppy.

Pick: Milwaukee Brewers

B. Keller (2-1; 2.45) v L. Giolito (2-1; 6.19)

And there they are…the Sweet, Sweet White Sox. As we learned in the past the Chicago White Sox are the best insurance your kid’s college savings can buy. Behind on rent? Bet the White Sox. Forgot an anniversary gift? Bet the White Sox. Slept on Easter presents for the kids this Sunday? Bet the White Sox. If the black and white are playing on a Wednesday afternoon your money’s on them. No need to bog you down with analysis here – let Old Reliable take you to the promise land. #WhiteSocks4TheWhiteSox

Pick: Chicago White Sox

S. Gray (0-2; 2.03) v W. Buehler (1-0; 8.25)

The biggest storyline in today’s game is the return of Yasiel Puig & Matt Kemp to Dodger Stadium after an offseason trade sent the players from LA to Cincinnati in an obvious salary dump by the Dodgers to make room to sign Bryce Harper (ha-ha, the Phillies got him and you didn’ttttt). But with both players hitting .176 & .200 a piece I don’t anticipate a firework show this afternoon making this a regular old ball game. This pick simply comes down to talent. The reigning NL Pennant winners are far superior than the Reds and should have no problem sweeping them up in today’s series finale. Put your money on the Dodgers and use this time to crush a power nap after an aggressive afternoon of BPS raging.

Pick: LA Dodgers
