The Degenerate's Digest v.42

You thought I was gone? I’m never gone. I’m always there, waiting for the opportunity to strike. It’s the college football playoff. Do you really think I was going to leave you high and dry to suffer paying off those Christmas present credit card bills all by yourself? Buddy, that’s just not who I am. Nope. We’re taking these two games by storm. We’re taking all our profits from this season and putting them on the table today. We have nothing to lose. It’s the playoffs baby, the playoffs.

(4) Oklahoma vs. (1) LSU: LSU -13.5

Listen, I don’t like this line. I really don’t want to touch it. I’d rather tease it down, or take the away team total points under 31, or hell – even just wait and do some first half/second half live totals (throw the thick sack on the under 76.5 too). But you simply have to take LSU here. This is the most trusted team in the playoff right now. Of the 4 teams, this is the one that you have to say is the most dependable, the most durable, the most respected, the most trustworthy. While it is a lot of points for a playoff game, and one that is expected to be an offensive shootout between Joe Burrow and Jalen Hurts, you must trust Coach O and the Tigers. Especially since the ‘Jambalaya Joey Digest Coach O Curse’ was broken during championship week. There’s just no way I can steer anyone in any direction other than LSU by 2 touchdowns. I can’t.

Final Score: LSU 42, Oklahoma 28

(3) Clemson vs. (2) Ohio State: Clemson -2.5

This pick is really for followers of the Digest and followers of the Digest only. I won’t apologize to those of you who want a real pick here instead of a strategic pick. If you haven’t followed the Digest and aren’t in a spot to be as strategic as the Digest that’s your own damn fault. Way back at the end of September, I told you dedicated readers to take a future on Ohio State 9 to 1 to win the national championship. This is where we can cover our ass and win no matter what. Take Clemson -2.5 with playoff experience and a better coach after Ohio State was clearly exposed in the Big Ten Championship. It will allow us to profit on what will happen tonight and cover what was a decent value months ago. And if we lose tonight, so what? We still have our 9 to 1 in play. If Ohio State is able to beat Clemson tonight, I don’t doubt their ability to have a good game against either LSU or Oklahoma. Be smart here people, be strategic. Play both sides.

Final Score: Clemson 35, Ohio State 21

Running Record: (44-30-2)
