We’re basically halfway through the season already. Gross. But what a slate today - too bad college football isn’t smart enough to be flexing some of these games. We have undefeated matchups all over the place, a 10v5 at noon, and a 3v6 at 330. Come on NCAA, you’re better than that. Regardless of the scheduling woes, we’re gonna have ourselves a day. Something’s gotta give Saturday. We’re gonna find out if some of these surprise teams are for real, or fraudulent. True tests are coming right at the midway point. Just remember, the cream always rises to the top. Week 7!
(10) Penn State @ (5) Michigan: Penn State +7
I don’t think either of these teams are that good. They’re both decent, but you can’t tell me either of these are playoff worthy squads - at least not yet. With the schedules they both have moving forward, I could see an opportunity for one of these teams to mold into a playoff contender. Aka - one of these teams beats Ohio State. From a dramatic, storyline standpoint, Michigan plays the Buckeyes in their last game of the season. From a purely biased perspective, seeing that I’ll be at Penn State vs. Ohio State in two weeks time - I need to see an undefeated Nittany Lions team in that game. Have to. I probably won’t, but I gotta try. And thus the pick, at least make it a close one gang.
Final Score: Penn State 28, Michigan 27
(3) Alabama @ (6) Tennessee: Under 66
Uhhh no. No, I still do not believe in the Volunteers. They’re burned me way too many times in the past to believe in them. However, finding out the clog dancing meme guy supports Rocky Top really puts the good juju vibes on their side. And Alabama is 100% questionable in a variety of ways. When you really look at this matchup though, you have to think about logistics. If Tennessee is looking good offensively early, I think Saban goes clock management to control possession. There’s just no way I see this being a shootout. Give me the under.
Final Score: Alabama 32, Tennessee 27
(8) Oklahoma State @ (13) TCU: Oklahoma State +4
I know that the offense opened up for TCU last weekend in the 4th quarter but man oh man did they look like a heaping pile of dog poo for the majority of that game. Oklahoma State on the other hand proved me wrong and covered against a tough Texas Tech team. Good teams win, great teams cover. The Cowboys should be able to keep this within a field goal if not win outright.
Final Score: Oklahoma State 35, TCU 32
LSU @ Florida: LSU +2.5
Ugh. It is just so sad to see LSU in their current state. I miss a truly competitive Tigers team. But more importantly? Fuck Florida. They’re dead to me. The Gators have Georgia next week so this is an easy lookahead performance opportunity for Brian Kelly to stay in the semi-good graces of the Cajun Council with an outright victory. Oh, and did I mention how dead Florida is to me? Fuck Florida.
Final Score: LSU 34, Florida 24
(7) USC @ (20) Utah: USC +3.5
Another team that’s proved my dumbass wrong all season - the Trojans. They had my curiosity, but now they have my attention. This is probably the best defense they’ve faced this season, but Utah also doesn’t have much going for them offensively. Back and forth we go, take the points
Final Score: Utah 24, USC 21
Running Record: (159-138-6)
