Boobs. That’s the only word I want to use to describe the month of October for the Digest. If you’re a first-time reader, you wouldn’t know if that’s a good use of the word boobs (rack, yabo’s, milk bags, etc.) or a bad one (bums, amateurs, bobo’s, frauds, etc.). You’d have no idea. That’s why I chose it. Just leave October in the past and do your best to remember it as boobs. That’s on you if you want to think of the bad version of boobs.
People keep asking me ‘what are we gonna do Joey Digest’, ‘what are we gonna do’? It’s November now. The days are shorter, the weather is crisper, and we have yet another conference of football starting up for money to win on the west coast. It’s time to be vultures. We want it all. We need to make some coin these next couple of weeks before turkey day weekend. Because this turkey day weekend is shaping up to be one of the best betting weekends of the year. Let’s be vultures this weekend, birds of prey, waiting for turkey day weekend. What are we gonna do? If you have to ask, you don’t deserve to know.
(23) Michigan @ (13) Indiana: Michigan -3.5
Michigan went out and got walloped by the rival Spartans last weekend in the Paul Bunyan – Governor of Michigan game. Well, walloped by 3 points. But Michigan State lost to Rutgers the week prior! This was a tough one for the Wolverines to take an L in. They should have easily won, but credit to Michigan State for showing up and wanting it more. Speaking of showing up and wanting it more, I think that’s exactly what Michigan does today in Indiana. The Hoosiers are 2-0 with a late win against Penn State and a ‘closer than it should have been’ match against Rutgers. Something tells me they are looking at their own start, and at the Paul Bunyan game last weekend, and are thinking today will be a breeze at home. They will be sleeping in late for this noon matchup, and it will cost them. On the other side, John Harbaugh had a large glass of milk to compliment his ribeye for dinner last night as he sat down and figured out exactly how to come out with a convincing victory today. Wolverines are winning this game today.
Final Score: Michigan 35, Indiana 27
(8) Florida @ (5) Georgia: Georgia -2.5
Everyone is talking about how much Bennett has struggled of late. Why is that what people are looking at here? The thing I look at in this game are the defenses. It’s true, Georgia’s defense does have some unusual holes for a Bulldogs program that is typically one of the best defenses in the SEC. But the Gator’s defense is just, to put it simply, worse. Giving up just under 30 points per game (thanks to only allowing 17 to Missouri…. I’ll say that again, 17 points to Missouri), compared to the Bulldogs who are allowing just 16 points per game with 2 more games played in their sample size! I think Florida is in for it today, this line is honestly one of the most disrespectful lines I’ve seen all season. Sprinkle the over here too if you know what’s good for you – because Bennett turns it around today with the momentum his defense comes out with probably giving him great field position a number of times in the first half.
Final Score: Georgia 38, Florida 21
Houston @ (6) Cincinnati: Cincinnati -12.5
I said this last week and I’ll say it again, Cincinnati is doing all the little things right. That’s why they are undefeated. They are consistent in all the right areas, and one of those areas is their ability to match drives on the scoreboard after almost every single drive their opponent is able to get on the board. The rest of the American is playing checkers, the Bearcats are playing chess. When a team is doing all the little things right, you do the right thing by taking them against a team who is giving up an average of 43.5 points per game. Oh, and sprinkle the over 51.5 because Cincy has the ability to do that solo. Chess, not checkers. I like when a team does the little things right, I like it a lot.
Final Score: Cincinnati 48, Houston 13
(1) Clemson @ (4) Notre Dame: Clemson -5.5
DJ Uiagalelei was able to get his feet wet last weekend in a tough game against Boston College, a game that I knew BC would show up for. Don’t let that trick you into thinking Clemson is beatable… or at least beatable to an overrated Irish squad. Notre Dame, I believe I said it week one of the digest, but now I really mean it – welcome to the ACC. The Tigers defense is going to have a field day pressuring Ian Book. That’s all the playbook needs to consist of. Make Ian Book uncomfortable and he can’t do shit. I know that, Dabo knows that, everyone knows that. The Irish do have a solid defense, but I just think the play-calling is going to allow DJ to be more comfortable than Ian today. Brian Kelly is never good in big spots either. Sprinkle the under 50 in a defensive battle in South Bend.
Final Score: Clemson 27, Notre Dame 17
Stanford @ (12) Oregon: Over 51.5
I had to throw one Pac-12 game in here. Oregon did lose Justin Herbert and are now looking at either Tyler Shough or BC transfer Anthony Brown to take the reins for this Ducks offense. I don’t really have much on these squads outside of remembering that Stanford’s starter Davis Mills is a bit more experienced at the position with six games played last season while KJ Costello (transfer to Mississippi State) was dealing with injuries. He also broke a school record throwing for 504 yards against Washington State. I just think that being the first game back for these two squads, in the month of November, they may get a little gassed early allowing for the offenses to just keep it simple yet effective. We’re rooting for points.
Final Score: Oregon 32, Stanford 27
